Are mutual recognition and reciprocity the same thing?
No. Reciprocity is an agreement between two states that allows the licensee of one state to use their license in another state. Your driver’s license is a good example of reciprocity. Florida does not allow reciprocity with any other state for Real Estate Licensees. Florida does have Mutual Recognition Agreements with a number of states that will recognize the education and experiencean applicant has received in another state. Mutual Recognition applicants are exempt from the Pre-License course, but must pass a 40 Question Exam on Florida Real Estate Law. A passing score of 30 points or 75% is required. Mutual recognition is ONLY available for non-resident applicants.
